Do you want to have that NYC Jazz Club Experience without the hassle and expense of traveling to the big city? Of course you do and I’ve got just the thing. Smalls Jazz Club in NYC has an audio archive of shows on their website and you can stream them all from the comfort of your own home.
The interactive archive page is great and lets you select past performances by instrument going back as far as September of 2007. After picking an instrument you will be given a drop down menu of artists to choose from. Each artist has their own page with a bio, a link to their official site and a list of past Smalls gigs. Once you’ve chosen a date you’ll be given the full personnel and set date/time while a flash reel to reel player spools up and plays your music. The full sets are included complete with artist banter, audience chatter and glasses clinking for that authentic Jazz Club feel.
This is a great way to experience live music and check out new and upcoming artists. If and when you DO visit the Big Apple, be sure to head on down to Smalls at 183 W. 1oth St. (off 7th Ave. South) Have fun and happy listening.
